Default A quick question

I tried using the search button for this, but couldn't find my answer...so here it is...

If someone drops an item and doesn't mention "Don't pick it up" or anything like that and I pick it up is it against the rules in anyway? Cause this happened and he started saying "WTF...", then I dropped it feeling sorry for him and someone else picks it up... Then he threatens to report us all.. Did I do anything wrong? Did I violate any rules?

Thank you in advance to reading and answering this.

In my guild, we usually drop stuff just to show everyone. Open a chest, ID and drop at your feet -- that way you don't have to type or open trade with everyone to show them what you got. However, outside of the guild, I would not do this. I think the majority of players think that if you drop an item from your inventory to the ground, that makes it fair game. If the person who dropped it explained that they were picking it back up, or they asked you to return it after you picked it up, I would think the only decent thing to do is give it back.

So basically, I think you played it right, the person who's item it orriginally was is a darsh, and the person who ended up with it is also a jerk.

it depends on conditions.

if he dropped it accidentally and wanted to keep it returning it would be the right thing to do.

you were correct in dropping it but you could have used the trade button to be sure he got it back.

or told him you would drop it a bit away from the others to prevent a grab like what happened.

you did right

the grabber was wrong

Unless your in a group of guild mates or friends, if u can pick an item up your safe to do so. Another thing people complain about is when u take a item that was assinged to them but changes to no one cause there dead for to long or ignored it. There is no rule aginst it, otherwise u wouldnt be able too. =) if they start messageing you ignore them.

...... or too busy fighting to pick it up. I have seen people running around picking up drops while the rest of the team is still engaged in a prolonged battle. The only rule against it is the rule of common courtesy.

Oh ..... wait a minute ..... courtesy? this is guild wars!
